Can You Prevent Gray Hair With Onion Juice?

Is it possible to reverse hair graying with onion juice?

The answer to this question is no if the hair graying is due to aging or genetics. With aging and genetics, the pigment cells (melanocytes) within the hair follicles are dying, and there is no way to bring them back to life.

However, if the hair graying is due to a medical problem or occurs after a significant life event, there is some hope of restoring the natural pigment of your hair.

Onion juice is a rich source of sulfur and can make your hair look fuller and rich. You can add onion juice to your shampoo, or simply massaging onion juice into your scalp for about 15 minutes will work wonders. If you have dark hair, don’t be alarmed if you put on some onion juice and your hair turns blonde. It is only temporary.

To make onion juice, peel and dice 1-2 onions and blend them. Filter the juice through a muslin cloth to extract a clear liquid. Apply the onion juice to your scalp with a cotton pad, massaging it in circular motions. Leave it on for 30-45 minutes, then wash it off with a gentle shampoo. Repeat twice a week for best results. Note: Do a patch test before using onion juice on your scalp.

No one wants their hair to turn gray before they’re ready.

But if you’re experiencing premature graying due to environmental conditions, smoking, medications for chronic diseases, or vitamin B12 deficiencies, then you can try onion juice to reverse it. Douse your hair in it regularly to see favorable results.
